Umrah is obtained from I’timaar which means visitation. According to Islam “Umrah’ means,

·         Visitation of Kaabah,

·         Performing Tawaf around it,

·         Sa’iy between Safa and Marwah seven times,

·         Performing halq or taqsir. (Shaving or cutting of hair.)

Islamic Verdict on Umrah:-

According to Islam it is mandatory for Muslims for perform Umrah once in their life.Hazrat Aaisah said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, do women have to engage in jihad?’ He said, ‘yes, they must do jihad in which there is no fighting: Hajj and ‘Umrah,’ Ibn Maajah (2901)

Significance of Umrah in Islam:-

Umrah is considered as minor hajj. It is a sunnat e muaqeda and can be performed at any time during the year. The significance of Umrah can be analyzed by this hadith;

“The Prophet (S) said: “The performers of Hajj and Umrah are deputations of Allah (SWT). If they call Him, He answers them and if they seek His forgiveness, He forgives them.” Ibne Maaja

“One Umrah is expiation for the sins committed between it and another Umrah”. (Bukhari, Muslim)

1-    Ihram:-

Ihram is the aim of executing ‘Umrah’. Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Deeds are according to intentions and every person will be rewarded according to his intention. Therefore, whosoever has emigrated for the sake of Allah and His Messenger, and then his emigration was for Allah and His Messenger. And whosoever emigrated for the sake of a worldly gain, or a woman “whom he desires” to marry, then his emigration is for the sake of that which “moved him” to emigrate.” Bukhari

 2. Sa’iy:-

Sa’iy means to walk between Safa and Marwah seven times. Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Perform Sa’iy (between them); indeed Allah has decreed that you perform Sa’iy (between them).” (Ahmad)

 3. Tawaf:-

      Conditions of Tawaf:

•          Niyat
•          State of Tahaarah.
•          Circling the Kaabah seven times and Kaabah should be on the left.

Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful, the most high, said:

 “Circumambulate the ancient house”

 Obligations of Umrah:-

 1.     Ihraam from Meeqat: Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:”Those Meeqat are for their residents and non residents who pass through them with the intention of making Hajj or ‘Umrah.” Bukhari

          Meeqat in terms of Time: Any time throughout the year except five days of Hajj.

Meeqat in terms of Place:-

•         Abbyar Ali:(people from Madina)
•          Near Rabigh (Syria, Morocco, Egypt)
•          Sa’adiyah (Pakistan , India, Yemen)
•          Al-Sail-Al-Kabeer (Najd , Taif)
•          THAT-IRQ (Iraq)

 2.            Shaving or Trimming the Hair: Allah Says: “Certainly, you shall enter al-Masjid-ul-Haram, if Allah wills, secure, (some) having their heads shaved, and (some) has their hairs cut short.” (Al Fath:27)

                                                              Taking bath and using perfume before Ihraam.

  Wearing Ihraam.

 Saying Talbiyah when Kaabah and Hijr e Aswad are perceived with eyes.

Discerning al-Idh’tiba’ while performing the Tawaf.
